Epitalon Peptide

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide composed of the amino acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is a synthetic analog of the natural pineal gland peptide epithalamin and has been studied for its potential to influence cellular homeostasis through telomerase activation. Preclinical models suggest Epitalon may support telomere elongation, oxidative stress resistance, and cell cycle regulation in aging tissues.

Overview

Research into Epitalon has focused primarily on its interactions with genomic stability and mitochondrial function. Studies indicate that it may upregulate telomerase activity, an enzyme involved in maintaining telomere length at the ends of chromosomes. This action is thought to delay replicative senescence and promote longevity of somatic cells. Epitalon and Telomere Elongation

In aging cell models, repeated application of Epitalon was observed to increase telomere length in fibroblast cultures. Investigators suggest this may occur through activation of telomerase reverse transcriptase, delaying cell cycle arrest and senescence.

Epitalon and Antioxidant Response

Experimental evidence in murine models indicates Epitalon may enhance superoxide dismutase and catalase activity, which are key enzymes in combating oxidative stress. These findings suggest the peptide may support cellular resilience in high-reactive oxygen species environments.

Epitalon and DNA Repair

Epitalon has demonstrated potential involvement in activating DNA excision repair pathways following induced strand breaks. Researchers have posited that this function may support genomic stability in both mitotic and post-mitotic cells under stress.

Epitalon and Neuroendocrine Support
